| 1. Configure your computer to use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to
obtain a
valid IP

Windows 98 Users: Go to START MENU-> SETTINGS-> CONTROL PANEL-> NETWORK-> scroll through "Components Used by this Connection" to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)-> double click or click on PROPERTIES and click on "Obtain an IP address automatically". Then click OK. | |

Windows 2000 Users: Go to START MENU-> SETTINGS-> CONTROL PANEL-> NETWORK AND DIALUP CONNECTIONS-> LOCAL AREA CONNECTION->PROPERTIES-> scroll through "components checked are used by this connection" and double click on "Obtain an IP address automatically". Then click OK. | |
| Mac Users: Go to APPLE-> TCP/IP-> set the CONFIGURE drop down menu to "Using DHCP Server". | |
| Students: Use your web browser to go to register.net.umd.edu and click on "Commuter Students". Follow the instructions to register. |
| Faculty and Staff: Use your web browser to go to register.net.umd.edu and click on "Faculty and Staff". Follow the instructions to register. |
2. Reboot your
computer.
